In the 1960’s, Mr. Jamal Masri established “Jamal O. Masri Cars Trading Co. (JOM)” In Nablus, and it was renamed later on to United Motor Trade
1960
JOM became the official dealer for Volkswagen in Palestine, and opened the first showroom with an area of 150 square meters, also established its first service center in Nablus.
1964
JOM Opened a new main office in Jerusalem in 1965.
1965
In 1967 and due to the political conflict with Israel, JOM’s business operation was put on hold.
1967
In early 1970’s JOM managed to proceed with its business activities and focused on building a strong loyal relationship with its customers through several, unique and special services and campaigns.
1970

In the middle of 1970’s JOM has worked on meeting the Palestinian market needs by providing a wide range of car models.

JOM stood still against the overall situation and managed to keep it business running.
1983
“The First Intifada” broke out and severely slowed down the Palestinian economy, where JOM was also effected.
1987
JOM opened a new VW showroom with an area of more than 1000 square meter, together with a new service center in Ramallah.
1991
With the establishment of the Palestinian authority JOM was renamed to United Motor Trade (UMT) and became the exclusive and sole importer of (VW, VW Commercial and Audi).
1994
In 1998 UMT annual sales volume exceeds 1,000 vehicles.
1998
In 1999 Cobra Car Trading Co. became the Sub-Dealer for UMT in Bethlehem.
1999
“The Second Intifada” broke out and strongly damaged the Palestinian economy and UMT sales were badly affected.
2001
In 2003 UMT became the exclusive importer of Škoda-Auto in Palestine.
2003
Al Salam Car Trading Co. became a sub-dealer for UMT in Hebron 2006.
2006
A new incomparable service center with more than 6,000 square meters of area was established in Ramallah in 2008. Were this service center was built following the Corporate standards of VW.
2008
In 2009 UMT’s Market share exceeded 30% of the Palestinian market.
2009
UMT established a new high tech. training center for internal employees training plus having the authority to issue certificates approved by the Ministry of Labor for the local society applicants.
2010
Audi Showroom was opened in Ramallah in 2011. Audi Showroom was built following the high standard design policies provided by Audi A.G, Giving the Customer a special buying experience.
2011
UMT became the exclusive importer of Seat in Palestine.
2012
Al-Hassouneh Car Trading Company became a sub-dealer for UMT in Tulkarem. Selling Skoda and Volkswagen vehicles.
2012
A New Seat showroom was built in 2015 in Al-Bireh/ Ramallah city.
2015
In 2016 the first and the most advanced headquarter in northern Palestine was established in Nablus, which consists of a large service center, VW showroom, Skoda Showroom and general management offices. The new service center has an area of more than 5000 square meters.
