Everything at a glance
Thanks to its luminosity and energy efficiency, LED technology is without a doubt on the leading edge of engineering services. Now it has been surpassed. And by a considerable degree: The HD Matrix LED headlights with Audi laser light, optionally for the A8, achieve 10 times the luminous intensity. Their bundled rays cast a piece of day into the night. The range of visibility is doubled with these laser spotlights in comparison to conventional technology. But it's not just a matter of seeing better: A camera system in the front panel detects light sources in the oncoming traffic and enables this area to be automatically dimmed. This means that oncoming vehicles will not be exposed to glare. The dimmed area can be controlled extremely precisely due to an increased number of illuminated segments. It will be smaller as a result - which also improves your view. All of this functions automatically of course, thus providing a further prerequisite for relaxed, comfortable, and safe driving at night. The HD Matrix LED headlights are optional in the A8, indicated by a distinctive blue X in the headlights.
Dynamic to the end
The Audi Matrix OLED rear light in 3D design allows for a special lighting design for the new Audi A8, which leaves its distinctive mark. The OLED technology enables a homogeneous representation of geometrical shapes, which are infinitely dimmable. The new Audi A8 is unmistakable in the dark thanks to its LED luminaire in combination with rear lights in OLED technology, also highlighting opening and closing vehicle. It isn't just the design that is impressive - so are the gains for safety due to better visibility.

Newly developed, deeply reflective colours for the Audi A8 with Audi exclusive. The A8 gives you much more freedom in terms of space and design. Your personal design concept will take shape with the Audi exclusive customisation programme: The whole range of interior options is freely combinable, and the exterior will shine with newly developed, deeply reflective colours such as earth grey, Vesuvius grey, and Seville red.
Moving forward with ease
The Audi A8 represents a benchmark with its highly light-weight construction. The multi-material space frame concept makes the carriage the lightest in its class. One-third greater stiffness for excellent agility with increased driving comfort.
Intelligent redistribution
The new active chassis lends the Audi A8 active stability, taking into account the current driving situation. The Audi AI Active Chassis, optionally in the A8, has two central tasks. On the one hand, it provides comprehensive and effective support for transverse and longitudinal stabilisation of the vehicle for any load, taking into account road conditions, the lay of the road, and speed. This leads to even more significantly higher driving comfort. On the other hand, this innovation enhances passive safety: The traction, which is provided by quattro anyway, is additionally optimised in the case of full braking by distributing the forces to all four wheels as precisely as possible. The pitch forward is actively balanced and the braking distance is significantly shorter. In addition, the vehicle raises by up to 80 millimetres within a half-second during a side crash, thus increasing safety in the interior. All these functions could be realised because the chassis now works completely electromechanically for the first time, and the necessary forces can be applied to each wheel individually and in accordance with the situation. A central control unit evaluates sensor signals and distributes corresponding commands to solenoid valves, which then infinitely adjust the damping force of the respective shock absorber
Efficiency as standard
The Audi A8 with mild hybrid technology: an innovative combination of internal combustion engine and electric motor. The Belt Starter Generator (BSG) has a double role: it operates as an electric motor or as an alternator. In its first function, it provides a propulsion torque of a considerable 60 Newton metres. These are utilised in the Audi A8 for a unique function: When you reach your target speed, the combustion is switched off for up to 40 seconds between 30 and 160 km/h – for comfortable, quiet, and emission-free sailing. The BSG has enough power to restart the engine at any time. You touch the accelerator pedal – and the engine immediately kicks into action. The generator even has its advantages during deceleration: together with the powerful battery above the rear axle, it enables a more intense recuperation. This way spent energy is fed back to the vehicle. In many situations, this recovery is even more efficient than the mentioned sailing - thus the A8 drive management constantly monitors and evaluates the situation. To this end, the data from the front camera and, optionally, the findings of the predictive efficiency assistant, are networked with current route data and values from the sensor set. From now on, models of the new generation A8 will be the first cars to be delivered with the new performance labelling. T
The new steering mode
Each speed entails different steering requirements: while in the lower range it is about manageability, later, apart from agility, it is mainly about stability. From a technical point of view there is also a contrast which has often led to concessions, meaning that it is always one aspect of steering or response behaviour that has become the focus. The dynamic four-wheel steering now decisively resolves this eternal compromise. It combines dynamic steering on the front and rear axle with a central control unit. Their algorithm translates the steering movement into respectively optimal wheel angles as a function of the current speed. This achieves a comprehensive handling improvement: Your steering effort is considerably reduced when turning and parking - the vehicle's turning circle is noticeably scaled down via a mutual steering of the rear wheels. You can enjoy sporty mobility and riding like on rails at up to 120 km/h. Beyond this point, the required steering angles are again reduced, leading to relaxed and stable driving behaviour on motorways.
Elegance in a new light
Thanks to the multi-coloured contours / ambience light package, the interior is staged with precise fibre optics. The interior design is highlighted and further enhanced in its quality.
Where air quality is noticeable
The air quality package provides a subtle, pleasant fragrance at the push of a button throughout the vehicle's interior. In total two different fragrances are available, which were specially composed for the vehicle. The fragrance intensity is adjustable in three stages. These are activated via the MMI touch response. Simultaneously with propagation of the interior fragrance, the outside air is filtered and thereby effectively cleaned. Air quality is also noticeably improved via ionisation.
Form and function, the next step
Due to consistent use of touch displays with haptic feedback while reducing conventional control switches/buttons, you will experience a completely new operating experience. This makes the latest generation's infotainment system even more intuitive in its operation. The driver-oriented instrument provides the cockpit with even more modernity and elegance.

More comprehensive than ever, the design of the Audi A8's controls follows the concept of uniformity. This is made possible by consistent use of touch displays, which reduce a wealth of functionalities to a minimum of interface. Handling these surfaces is absolutely intuitive: by tapping and swiping you navigate to the desired content. When you select a function, you also get haptic and acoustic feedback. Almost like a push-button - only just noticeably better. Many functions can also be operated entirely hands-free: for the first time, the language assistant enables operation via speech, which is not based on defined terms, but is oriented by natural dialogues.
